Offa's Hideaway is an idyllic and peaceful retreat on Offas Dyke footpath in the village of Redbrook in the Wye Valley.
Offa's Hideaway has a private patio, verander decking and outdoor seating looking down the valley towards the River Wye. Set in a beautiful open woodland location the property has site parking accessed via a magical stepped woodland path with atmospheric night lighting.
The cottage has just been renovated and includes an open living and kitchen area, with wood burner, underfloor heating, modern hob/oven and appliances.
The lounge area includes a high end Emma's Bed Sofa bed, which offers cosy and comfortable seating and can be converted to either a king bed or two singles, offering a comfortable sleep. The upstairs bedroom is a spacious dual aspect room with a kingsize bed.
A new bathroom has been installed with a large deluxe shower.
The property is semi detached, connected to the main cottage, which dates back to pre-1800's during the industrial tin works era in Redbrook.
The hosts live next door in the attached property with their two young children. They are happy to help with local tips or recommendations, although utmost privacy will be given by default.
The property is accessed via a series of 17 steps from the private parking area. It is therefore not suitable for disabled users or those with mobility issues. The guests share the parking area with the hosts, and a section of the garden path running to the property. Two spaces are allocated to Offa's Hideaway.
Please note there is no smoking on the property, and dogs are not permitted as there are gaps in hedges to adjoining property.
I am an avid mountain biker and also love to walk, canoe and do anything active. I have lived abroad skiing and biking but settled in the Wye Valley. I love the incredible deciduous woodlands, green spaces, valley views and historic feel of the place. Plus the fun and active community of the Wye Valley including the many great pubs and lively festivals and events throughout the year.
The cottage is located alongside the Offas Dyke footpath on route to the Kymin National Trust site when walking from the Wye Valley. The village of Redbrook is located 0.4 miles away along Offa's Dyke path, which is surfaced at this location.
There are two fabulous pubs in walking distance. The Boat (Penalt) is a lively historic pub accessed across the footbridge in Redbrook and has a renowned reputation. Cosy fireplace seating in the winter and riverside and waterfall views for outdoor summer seating. The Bell is also a firm locals favourite in the village with frequent live music. The village has a community run village shop for all essentials, including local fresh produce.
Redbrook is a fabulous location for exploring the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean. Numerous great walking routes can be started and finished from the cottage. The property is also located adjacent to some great Enduro mountain bike tracks well known amongst the mountain bike community. Pedalabikeaway Cannop Cycle Centre is only a 12 minute drive away.
There is a great array of family activities within 10 - 15 minutes drive including Perrygrove Railway, Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves, Forestry Commission Beechenhurst, Tintern Abbey. The list goes on.
