Orkneyinga is a spacious, modern 2 bedroomed property with private parking in the heart of Kirkwall.
The property is on 2 levels, with an open area for living/dining and a fully equipped kitchen including microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine/tumble dryer and dishwasher. There is a downstairs toilet with basin, and ample storage for suitcases underneath the stairs. The dining table seats 4 comfortably; the living room area has a large, comfortable sofa and 2 chairs, a flat screen SMART TV with Freeview/Netflix and access to free Wi-Fi, just what you need to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of an Orkney evening, where the sun hardly sets in the summer months.
Upstairs has 2 bedrooms, 1 standard double and 1 small double, both with windows and views towards St Magnus Cathedral and overlooking the town. The bathroom has a heated towel rail and walk in shower.
All bedding and towels are provided and ironing board with iron and hairdryers are available.
Heating in the property is by means of controllable air source heating on both levels.
Orkneyinga is a non-smoking property and no pets allowed.
Orkneyinga opened to self catering in 2019 and for Richard and Sarah this has provided an exciting opportunity to welcome visitors to the Orkney Islands. Year after year the islands are developing increasing interest and we would like to play our part in providing a home from home for visitors to make a base for their trip.
There is plenty of amenities on the doorstep and within a short walking distance. There is local car hire and bicycle hire nearby to venture further afield.
Richard and Sarah enjoy travelling out of season and it is always nice to share experiences with others. Sarah also creates local crafts which is a passion of hers.
One little note if driving to the property, access is from Bridge Street (next to the Kirkwall Hotel) and provides the opportunity to drive through this quaint one-way street (please ignore pedestrian only sign!). You pass some of the shops along the way, following the street round until you reach Laing Street which is a left turn and also one-way. The property is near the top of Laing Street on the right hand side.
We both recommend a visit to the islands for a very different and unique experience!
Local amenities are on your doorstep in the historic town, including shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. The location is a great base from which to explore and experience the best of what Orkney has to offer. Local attractions such as St Magnus Cathedral, the Orkney Museum and the Earl’s and Bishop’s Palaces are only a short walk away. Within a two minute walk is the Kirkwall Travel Centre, where you can access tourist information and local bus services. Also within walking distance is the leisure centre, where you will find health and fitness facilities, swimming pool and cinema. The beautiful, local 18-hole golf course is located on the outskirts of Kirkwall — visitors are always welcome and club hire is available. You can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the harbour front to Kirkwall pier and catch a ferry to explore the North Isles.
Car and bicycle hire is available to venture out of Kirkwall.
