Painter’s Cottage (Taigh a’Pheantair) is a thoroughly modern, one and a half storey house, built to a high specification to take full advantage of natural light, and furnished to a high standard. Situated in the village of Dunvegan with easy access to local shops and restaurants, the property looks out over the village itself at the front and fields at the back (both nice country views). Walk a few yards from the front door down a single track road and feast your eyes on Loch Dunvegan and on to see before you the two flat-topped hills known as MacLeod’s Tables. The location makes it an ideal base for touring Dunvegan and surrounding areas and the rest of Skye where you will find yourselves overwhelmed by the diversity of fabulous scenery. Enjoy the freedom of self catering without sacrificing your creature comforts. Contemporary oak furniture, comfortable beds and sofas and a fully equipped kitchen/dining room combine with a touch of minimalism to add to the feeling of light and space throughout the property. The house sleeps four in two double (one king size bed in each) ensuite rooms. The L shaped living area is upstairs. Heating is underfloor downstairs/radiators up.
Donald and Lorna are your hosts and will be happy to help with any queries/problems you may have.
Dunvegan is a small village with a post office, a bakery, a chocolate/cake shop, a mini supermarket, a wholefoods/fruit/veg shop. a filling station, two churches, a primary school, a health centre and of course Dunvegan Castle. There are a couple of hotels and restaurants in the village itself and also more eating places just a short drive away. MacLeod's Tables can be seen from the village and there are two beaches (Coral Bay and Varkasaig) within easy driving distance. The whole area is ideal for walks, both easy and more challenging and a bit further afield can be found some good fishing spots.
