Coast walks and beach swims by day, cosy huts by night… that's the fine setup at Tenby Shepherd's Huts, a well-maintained family-run site on the outskirts of Tenby and with lovely views out over the west Wales coast. It's just the spot for a glamping holiday in a chilled-out seaside spot – Tenby South beach is about five minutes' walk away and the centre of town a half-hour stroll (or five-minute drive).
The cosy, self-contained shepherd’s huts come with a fridge, sink, an oven and most kitchen facilities to prepare simple meals, which you can then consume on your private decked area with views across the site. If you really miss having dinner in front of your favourite show, there is also a TV. Bedding is provided, as are a barbecue, outdoor table and chairs.
This is a place where you can reconnect to a simpler life, taking in the spectacle of the starry night sky or by falling asleep to the sound of owls hooting. That said, it's also a great base for all sorts of days out, from theme parks to boat trips. A beach stroll is a good idea too, of course – and it's a popular spot for paddleboarders taking to the water. For longer walks, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path passes by as well.
You can get provisions from a farm shop a five-minute drive away, or there are plenty of places to eat in and around the village of Penally (a 10-minute walk) and in Tenby.

Tenby Town is a 5 minute drive from the site, parking is available at the multi-storey in Sainsbury's and there is a variety of restaurants, pubs & shops.
Tenby South Beach (Penally side) is located just a 10 minute walk from the campsite, walk to Penally rail station, walk to the car-park and cross the railway and it's a beautiful 5 minute walk to the sand dunes and entrance onto South Beach - Penally side. Which also is dog friendly all year round.
Bubbleton Farm - cafe and farm is just a short drive from the campsite and great to pick up any groceries.
There should be something for the whole family at Heatherton World of Activities theme park (five minutes’ drive) – not to mention something for any type of weather, with both outdoor and indoor amusements. You can challenge each other in a go-kart race, work together to solve the puzzles in the escape rooms or explore the tree-top trail and its ziplines. We also recommend Manor House Wildlife Park and Dinosaur located just a 5 minute drive from the campsite, located in the village of Gumfreston/St Florence.
With its mix of gentle, child-friendly amusements and high-octane thrill rides, Oakwood Theme Park (20 minutes) should also keep everybody happy. Adrenaline junkies might make a beeline for the gigantic wooden Megafobia roller coaster or the sky swing, but there are also a downhill bobsleigh and water rides, plus a boating lake.
Caldey Island can be reached in about half an hour (the time to drive to Tenby, plus the boat crossing). Once on this monastic island, you can relax on the sandy beach facing Priory Bay or hike to the lighthouse, keeping an eye out for red squirrels, puffins, Soay sheep and butterflies.
