The Shepherd's Hut is a unique, charming open plan one bedroom property situated on an animal sanctuary in beautiful rural Northumberland. One double bed, one sofa and a small kitchenette.
NB : The toilet and shower bathroom are located in another separate building 25 metres from the hut. This bathroom is not shared and is for use by guests in Shepherd's Hut only. There is a Portable Loo provided in the Shepherd's Hut for use overnight if preferred.
NB : No running water in the hut but water is provided and available in shower unit & kitchen area
NB: Three steep steps make it unsuitable for children under 8
NB: Dogs welcome - charges apply.
The Shepherd's Hut is situated on its own in a private corner spot of the sanctuary.
Guests can wake up to horses in the field next to the hut and feed them carrots for breakfast or tea ! A family of pheasants often visits and is happy to be treated to some bird seed form guests too ! Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead near the hut and guests must notify us in advance of any pets ( charges apply) Doggy bowls and blankets provided for your furry friends !
The hut is well insulated and a heater is provided in winter months. Thank you
Kim & Allan have run an animal sanctuary for 27 years and have hosted holiday lets for over six years. We live in the farmhouse nearby and are available to help guests with any help they need but equally respect their wish for privacy.
Ulgham is a lovely Northumbrian village with a name that means "where the owls meet".
Close to the stunning Northumbrian coastline for lovely walks on beautiful beaches or a half hour drive to the busy city of Newcastle with its rich variety of shops,pubs,clubs and lively nightlife. Or head north up to Alnwick or the Northumbrian coast - Seahouses and boat trips out to the Farne Islands to see puffins and seals in their natural habitats.
Whatever is of interest to visitors to the region, there is something to please all tastes and so accessible and within a short drive to so many attractions, rural villages, market towns and city life.
