The Sherwood is a 6 bedroomed 4 star rated bed and breakfast Guest House located in a lovely cosy Georgian townhouse. It is located on the south side of Edinburgh in the Newington area of the city, a popular area for guesthouses due to its easy access to everything Edinburgh has to offer visitors coupled with great places to eat, drink and shop. From a market garden to a micro-brewery to antiques this area has it all. At The Sherwood we want you to have all the things you need when you are away from home, so all our rooms have free Wi-Fi, television with Freeview channels, fridge, microwave, hairdryer, safe, iron and ironing board and a kettle as well as a welcome tray with a selection of teas, coffees, bottled water and snacks. We offer a much enjoyed extensive continental breakfast and also happily cater for guests with food intolerances.

For sightseeing, The Sherwood is within easy walking distance of Edinburgh’s historic old town including The Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace, National Museum of Scotland, The Scottish Parliament and The Castle. If you enjoy shopping, Princes Street, George Street and Multrees Walk are just a short bus ride away. Still got some energy left after all the sightseeing and shopping then we are very close to The Royal Commonwealth Pool/gym and just beyond that is Holyrood Park and Arthur’s seat with its lovely walks and stunning views of the city. If you fancy a round of golf, Prestonfield Golf Club is close too. If you fancy a trip to the theatre, The Queens Hall and Festival Theatres are also nearby and if you visiting Edinburgh in August during The Edinburgh International Festival & Fringe, we are brilliantly located for the majority of the major Fringe venues including Summerhall, Pleasance 33 Courtyard, Bristo Square & George Square. Finally if you have family or friends at Edinburgh University, we are very close to the Pollock Halls of Residence.
