Iain continues to run the professional photography side from the current address in Camastianavaig, and indeed - is happy to offer advice to those visitors who are keen to develop their photography skills.
A keen musician, Iain also gigs regularly around the area with various trad & cover outfits.
Camastianavaig is the first village in the district known as 'The Braes', a collection of traditional Skye crofting villages, notable for the 'Battle Of The Braes' in 1882; a conflict between the authorities and the crofting people of the area which led to the Napier Commission Report and ultimately, the Crofter's Act of 1886. A cairn to mark the spot can be seen in a nearby village. 10 mins drive from the Island Capital Portree, Camastianavaig is quiet and peaceful. Sheep, hens and cows can be seen on many of the crofts still being worked, and the original language of the Highlands - Gàidhlig, can still be heard around a few houses. Ben Tianavaig is a very popuar and easily accessible hillwalk affording stunning panoramic views from a height of 413m. It is also home to nesting Sea and Golden Eagles. Herons and Grey seals are regular visitors to the bay, amongst many other waders & divers. Otters may also be spotted along the shore line. Further out, Bottle-nosed Dolphins and Minke Whales occassionally show during high Summer. Expert local knowledge available to any guests particularly interested in fishing - either off sea rocks or wild brown trout & salmon.
