The cottage belongs to retired sea Captain Murdo M. Macleod, a man with deep family roots in the area.
During his long maritime career, Captain Murdo held command of the renowned luxury cruise ship M.V. Hebridean Princess, so he understands the importance of quality service. This is reflected in the cottage which you will find shipshape in all respects.
Captain Macleod’s family have called the Isle of Lewis home for generations. His intimate connection to the local culture and landscape is reflected not only in his rich heritage but also in the carefully curated touches around the cottages.
A true Highlander at heart, Captain Macleod is an accomplished bagpiper, and you’ll find subtle musical nods to this in the décor of the property. A keen hiker and amateur fisherman, he has spent much of his life exploring the stunning terrain of the islands.
From April to September, Captain Macleod is available to be booked for guided walking tours, fishing trips, and bagpipe talks and demonstrations, sharing his passion and insights with our guests.
