Company information
This is a family run hotel with some help from the Italians who operate the restaurant. Brian and Lorna are very much seniors so apologies for poor hearing etc WE book guests in ourselves and make sure the cars are parked in the past we used to run a bar but the restaurant has taken all the spare space now. The town however is full of restaurants coffee shops and hostelries so just go out the front door turn left and there is plenty to choose from.
We serve breakfasts from 730am-900am.
Property information
The Abbey Hotel is located in the centre of Tewkesbury and comprises two converted brick built townhouses constructed in the seventeenth century. The Hotel has been in business since the 1980's but recent changes included the introduction of a standalone Italian restaurant (Salernos) which has taken up much of the ground floor and has reduced the Hotel to effectively a bed and breakfast. The restaurant is however exceptionally popular and is an asset to the building.
The hotel is located on Church Street formerly the main route north and south before the M5 was constructed. With the age of the building the restaurant and the road it is not a place for very light sleepers.
The hotel is not luxury and certainly not a final destination hotel. If however you are looking for comfortable accommodation in the centre of town at a reasonable price then the hotel is ideal. We have an adequate car park at the rear of the hotel although it does require guests to park well.
Neighbourhood information
Tewkesbury is a quiet historic riverside town yet is uniquely placed for exploring the area having roads going to all points of the compass. Tewkesbury is rural and quiet yet immediately accessible to urban centres. The area and region caters for all interests and activities - historical and modern sporting and unsporting the Arts travel particularly around the lovely Cotswolds food and drink.
