We look forward to welcoming you to our home and sharing with you this beautiful rural part of Lincolnshire. We are both passionate about the countryside and love to share the peace of this place with guests.
Charles is an accomplished and published photographer, with experience and interest in a number of genres, with a particular passion for wildlife and astro photography. In the garden at Church View Barn we have a robotic observatory from which Charles images distant galaxies and other astronomical objects - examples of which can be seen on his website. He often teaches photography and will be happy to arrange some tuition for you.
If you would like to try your hand at Clay Target Shooting, there is a shooting ground at nearby Blyton (open Wednesday to Saturday). Charles is a regular shooter at the ground and would be pleased to introduce you and arrange for a lesson.
Atterby is ideally situated for places to visit in the area – there is much to explore in Lincolnshire! If you like the countryside and walking, the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds are just a few miles away.
We have two notable Wildlife Trust Reserves nearby – Far Ings (in the shadow of The Humber Bridge) is ideal for those who like walks and spotting varieties of bird life. Whisby Nature Reserve, near Lincoln has a well-presented visitor centre and café together with various walks, most of which are accessible for those who may need easier access.
Steeped in history, the City of Lincoln is just 15 miles or so south, with busy shopping areas, it's grand Cathedral and Tudor Castle just some of the attractions.
If you are interested in military history (particularly that of The Royal Air Force) we are surrounded by many places of interest. These range from small visitor centres on disused airfields, to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre at RAF Coningsby (about an hour across country) and the Lincolnshire Aviation heritage Centre at East Kirkby.
Lincolnshire is a county of much variety, we look forward to welcoming you!
