The Cabin in the Woods is tucked away in an idyllic and secluded woodland setting at the edge of peaceful horse pasture and natural farmland. It offers a private outdoor bath and a sunken firepit that allows one to gaze into untouched woodland. The firepit doubles as a BBQ for cooking under the stars. We designed the space to encourage a balance of indoor/outdoor living with a view so that you immerse yourself in nature and make the most of the tranquillity. In the wood a babbling natural spring and birdsong provides a natural soundtrack for most of the year while passers-by include deer, pheasants, hares, kestrels, owls and buzzards and other indigenous native species. The Cabin is simple but beautifully appointed and has been designed to help you wind down, switch off and recharge - an oasis of comfort in the midst of nature:
* a king-sized bed - and woodland views to die for
* a proper bathroom - flushing toilet and a powerful hot shower.
* a cabin kitchen (electric hob, fridge, sink & microwave) - to rustle up culinary delights or heat the takeaway!
* a cosy electric "wood burning" stove to set right the mood
* a high-speed Wifi connection, Sonos and Smart TV - for when the weather doesn't play nice!
Welcome to the Cabin! Now that the kids have grow up and left home we are channelling our energies in new ways. We've been hosting guests in UK and overseas since 2008 and now look forward to welcoming you to our latest favourite spot. What started as a hobby, became our "away-from-it-all" bolt hole and is now a space we are proud to share. We hope you enjoy the peace and quiet it brings.
The Test Valley is famous for some of the best fly fishing in the world, but its also home to some wonderful downland walking and cycle ways. We're located in open countryside about 3 miles from historic Romsey (home of Broadlands, Mottisfont Abbey and Fishlake Meadows Wetlands Reserve) with several great pubs and a village community shop within easy reach - yet only 15 minutes drive from Winchester, Southampton, or the New Forest. The Cabin itself overlooks a small secluded wood (a lookout for deer, pheasants, buzzards and kites) moments from the Monarch's Way footpath and a 10 minute walk through country lanes from the long-distance Test Way with the Clarendon Way close by. Our location isn't well served by public transport so you'll need a car to get here but be sure to bring your boots, bikes and binoculars to enjoy the best that the Hampshire countryside has to offer.
