'The Maverick Lodger'
Artistic and Sporty- in equal measure. Love skiing (am a ski instructor). When not throwing myself down mountains, I have worked for 15 years at an internationally renowned arts centre doing events for a wide range of different arts disciplines and am a trustee of an arts centre. I come from a stage management background having worked on the west end and toured the UK. I also have sung in a few bands and achieved an album with the second band. I have completed a part time Masters in Arts Management. I LOVE creative tourism. I attend as many arts happenings as I can in London and Stroud and am lucky enough to have lots of inspiring artist friends.
Im well travelled, having been to many international and european places.
I started taking lodgers into my home in 1998 and switched to airbnb in 2014 achieving and keeping superhost status all this time. My 2nd property in Stroud commenced bookings last December. My life motto is 'treat each other as you would treat yourself-well!'
Berkeley my 'co-host' is a handsome Basset Hound born on 28th Feb 2019. Berkeley is an absolute character, very friendly and loves meeting children/ guests & other dogs. I have also become the proud owner of a second basset hound- Gertie.
Any visitor to Stroud really needs to visit the Farmers Market on Saturday morning for takeaway food/ food stalls. Its been voted the best local market in the UK.
Stroud is very much the country version of alternative places such as Camden or Shoreditch- it’s a quirky, quixotic, bohemian town with very strong community roots and local free trade shops including art and vintage shops. It has a HUGE amount of artists living in and around the environs. It was voted several times as one of Britain's best places to live in a recent Sunday times article. Stroud is indeed, incredibly special and definitely embodies the 'hidden' bohemian more authentic experience of the Cotswolds.
Your host sits on the Stroud Tourist Forum- so have the latest local information to get the best out of your trip.
The many mills are part of Stroud’s Industrial Past and house a bustle of workspace sharing co-operatives, artists studios, vintage and fair/ free trade shops, upholstery and jewellery making workshops. Many guests visit to take part in these workshops to experience this rich arts and crafts heritage. Stroud truly is the 'Gateway to the South Cotswolds'.
