Our passionate owners, Sarah and Richard, have plenty of experience in hospitality, and they can’t wait to welcome you to our cosy inn. Since training in hospitality management after finishing school, Sarah has owned multiple businesses in different industries. She came back to hospitality in 2022, having fallen in love with the industry all over again, now with years of valuable experience under her belt. High energy, enthusiasm, and attention to detail epitomise Sarah’s work ethic. Richard, by contrast, worked as a deputy pub manager in the 1990s, which provided him with vital experience that has contributed to our success. After selling Land Rovers for fifteen years, he finished his car-selling career at Bentley in 2022, returning to hospitality. As well as being The Saxon Inn’s chief painter, decorator, handyman, and restorer, Richard loves to entertain and always ensures that our guests and patrons are totally satisfied with their visit.

Child Okeford is a picturesque village nestled amongst the captivating landscape of the Blackmore Vale in the heart of the North Dorset countryside. Hambledon Hill lies to the east , the River Stour to the west and the village is in easy reach of the market towns of Shaftesbury, Blandford and Sturminster Newton. Although we are a rural community there are lots of events going on and the village is home to a thriving artistic community
