The Walkers Retreat is cosy, comfortable, quiet with lots of privacy. Everything is provided for. There are plenty of towels and we provide fresh bed linen and bath robes. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is sugar, tea, coffee, milk and fresh eggs available. From the property there are stunning views over the Moor and the Scoriton valley. Also you can have a walk in our garden and enjoy the views even better. Weather permitted you can make use of your outdoor terrace. As Samantha & Alex live on site, we are immediate available for questions, tips and will be there in case of any problems. The Walkers Retreat has its own private entrance and its own free parking within the grounds.
Alex and Samantha have two young daughters. We moved to Holne in 2014 and we love it here. It's quiet and rural and we are surrounded by stunning nature and scenery. We love to play and explore in the garden and walk over to the village shop for an ice-cream. Also playing on the ancient rocks on Dartmoor or walking down to the wild river Dart at Hembury Woods are our favourite activities. In the summer we love to visit the beach, there are many choices and all within 40 to 50 minutes reach.
Dartmoor is within easy reach as the Walkers Retreat is located within the National Park. You can walk onto the Moor from the property or you can drive by car and within five minutes you will go over the cattle grid and begin your stunning trip over the Moors. In the village you will find a well-stocked village shop and the Church Inn Pub. Both are just five minutes walk away. Also you will find a pub in the next village of Scoriton, which is by car only 5 minutes away, by foot around 15 minutes.
The city of Exeter with it's ancient cathedral is 40 minutes drive and a range of beautiful beaches is also about 40 to 50 minutes drive away. Our favourite beach is Blackpool Sands (pebble beach) or Bantham sandy beach.
The market town of Ashburton is ten minutes away. Totnes with it's antique market (Friday's) and many independent coffee shops is 20 minutes away. You will pass Dartington Hall Estate, which has a wonderful cinema, coffeeshop and pub. Also you can do beautiful walks on the estate. The market town of Tavistock is 35 minutes away, the drive over the Moors to this charming town, with its indoor market is stunning.
In the Walkers Retreat you will find a folder with lots of information of the surroundings and also we provide a box full of leaflets.
