Even during the winter months, walkers, cold water swimmers, bird watchers and hard-core sailors all congregate here. There really is nowhere quite like Burnham Overy Staithe. The causeway path is a rewarding walk through the marshes, over the dunes and then onto a vast open sands where you can easily find solitude, even in summer. Carry on east to Holkham beach and Wells-next-the-Sea, if you’re feeling energetic. Alternatively, head west past the impressive windmill, and through the marshes where thousands of birds feed and gather throughout the year.
