Welcome to Amalia and Alicia’s Traditional Homes—where history and heart meet.
As a child, I spent summers in Rhodes, visiting from Montreal. My grandmother’s tiny home—now Alicia’s Traditional Home—was my sanctuary. Next door stood a large barn, once filled with loving animals and a corner fireplace whispering warm stories of the past.
My grandparents had already left Rhodes by then, seeking a new life in Canada in 1965. My father, still a young boy, walked beside them as they left Paradisi behind. Meanwhile, my mother, the youngest in her family in Asklipio, was sent to Australia at twelve for a better future. Though she built a happy life there, fate had other plans. Her parents arranged for her to meet my father, a young man from their homeland. At eighteen, she arrived in Canada, and within a week, they were engaged. Their love, though arranged, blossomed into a lifelong partnership.
Following tradition, my grandmother left these two homes to me. Over the years, I returned to Rhodes with my husband, Tony, and our daughter, Alicia, sharing with her the stories that shaped our family.
Together, we carefully restored both properties, preserving their soul while adding modern comforts. The old barn became Amalia’s Traditional Home, now a bright, open space with its original arch and fireplace, welcoming guests— while Alicia’s Traditional Home, smaller yet full of charm, retains cherished furniture from my grandparents.
These homes are more than places to stay; they are a tribute to the journeys that brought us here. We hope you feel their warmth and history during your stay.
Welcome home.
