The garden is set on 3 levels and we grow many herbs which guests are welcome to use in cooking and salads. "Levanta" is the greek word for lavender and we have many of these plants growing in the garden which provide a beautiful smell. There is a beautiful old ruin which was part of the original property that just about survived the terrible earthquake in the 1950's. Next to it is our huge almond tree which provides dappled shade to sit and enjoy the view and listen to the birds sing
This is our first season of hosting. We want people to have a taste of the quality of life that we have here and to share the tranquillity of the garden and the superb view. We said good to our farming life in Shropshire, UK. We are used to being very active so we brought our road bikes out to Kefalonia and cycle regularly up the hills to keep fit and enjoy the stunning views. There are endless good routes and also fabulous hiking here.. not to mention the great cafes for coffee stops and a quick swim in the sea en-route. We adore where we live. The villa is in a peaceful location but you are never far away from shops, beaches, tavernas etc which are just a 4 minute drive away. There is a bus stop located just down the road from the villa which will take you to Agia Efimia and near by towns and villages. We hope you enjoy sharing a taste of our Greek life.
Agia Efimia is a good central base. It’s a small fishing village but has everything you need.. ATM, supermarkets, pharmacy, cafes, restaurants, bakeries, butcher, post office, boat hire, scooter hire, clothes shops and many more! The famous beaches of Myrtos (unbelievable blue sea!) Antisamos (Captain Corelli Mandolin was filmed here) and Assos (pretty cove with hilltop Venetian castle and a choice of restaurants) and the ancient ruins of old Sami are all under 30 minutes away. The old church is well worth a visit as it is being restored and has some beautiful wall paintings. In Sami you can catch the ferry to Ithika and mainland Greece. The cosmopolitan fishing village of Fiskardo is 40 minutes drive and well worth a visit to see some of the fabulous yachts visiting the island whilst dining in one of the many harbour front restaurants. There are some very classy shops there too! In this area there are many, many beaches and small secluded coves for you to choose from. You are never too far away from a beach at villa Levanta!
