I’ve been coming to Murter to visit family since I was a few months old, and have spent countless summers on this island. Here, I am reminded that there is still so much here to discover and delight in - if I slow down and let it.
I’ve travelled much of the Dalmatian coast, and Murter remains a unique and charming destination, blessed with stunning natural beauty and biodiversity. Its position amid the gentle undulating curves of neighbouring islands is spectacular, and the sea around Murter is an eternal shimmering spectrum of blue and green lapping against innumerable beaches and coves.
Murter is especially well-placed for a truly diverse holiday experience, and over the years I've witnessed it attract many returning guests. My favourite activities include a morning coffee in the shaded courtyard at "Vilmin Dvor", lazing under Aleppo pines at a different beach after lunch each day, cycling or walking the island's numerous coastal trails, and enjoying a cold beer watching the sun set over the Kornati islands.
Beyond Murter, staying here wouldn't be complete without an evening spent strolling the medieval town of Šibenik, visiting the gorgeous bijou town of Skradin, and cooling off in the Krka river there, eating out and visiting the sea organ in Zadar, not to mention taking a boat trip to Kornati!
Whatever you end up doing during your stay, I wish you an enjoyable and comfortable stay at "Vilmin Dvor" and trust that your own discoveries will prompt you to soon return!
The house is located in a quiet pedestrian street in the harbour area of Murter, leading down to a jetty, and is 40m from the sea, a rent-a-boat service and two excellent restaurants, where mooring can be arranged for larger boats.
"Vilmin Dvor" is the perfect location for easy access to Murter's many restaurants, bars and cafés, supermarkets and bakeries, bike and boat rentals, and is within walking distance to a number of beaches and coastal walks with views on to the neighbouring islands. Close by also are the Marina, the Roman archeological site of Colentum and the charming settlement of Betina. Murter is a favoured destination for those wishing to explore Kornati by boat. The stunning historic town of Šibenik is 30 minutes drive away, and is not to be missed.
Boat excursions sail daily to the Kornati archipelago from Murter harbour.
