“Welll appointed country hotel. A newer add-on to a former BnB in small town on the way. Combined charm and character with utility (elevator, wide spaces, excellent breakfast room, roomy bedroom). A memorable experience.”

Our Guest house is also our family home located on our farm. We extended it in 2002 to add guest facility's that include bedrooms, sitting room and games room. So while we enjoy welcoming guests into our house they also have the advantage of having an area to themselves. The bedrooms are quite large and are all ensuite as you would expect from a comfortable guesthouse.
While all the family are involved in the running of our guesthouse at various levels, your main host is Mary. She grew up in a family home that was also a Guesthouse so she has hospitably in her blood! After school she trained in Hotel management and worked at various hotels and then later in restaurants. Here she discovered a special flare for baking and is well know in this area as a great baker! She has won various awards for this over the years. While she will welcome you with some of this produce and cook you a really good breakfast she is also a great ambassador for the area and will help you to get the most out of your visit here.
Glencarrig is just over a mile from the lovely village of Carrigaholt on the Loop Head Peninsular. Carrigaholt is an old fishing village and has 2 lovely piers. As it is also built on the first sheltered bay in the shannon estuary it has a long history and has still got a fine castle. While the village is small, it is the hub of the local farming area and still has 4 lovely pubs, one of which serves great food using the local produce from the surrounding land and sea. Carrigaholt also has a beach which is safe to swim from and departing from the pier you can join a fishing or dolphin watching trip.
Glencarriag is also an ideal place to explore the Loop Head Peninsular which was voted the best place to holiday in Ireland in 2013. Jutting out into the Atlantic on the north side of the Shannon estuary it has an other worldly feel with wonderful walks and drives and views over the Kerry hills to the south and the vastness of the Atlantic to the North. Right on its westernmost tip is perched the Loophead Lighthouse where visitors can get to climb up a working lighthouse and also get a great vantage to see the sights of the area.
All in all it is an area not to be missed.
