We are the most northerly residence and Art house Gallery in Ireland in the tranquil coastal setting of Malin Head, Inishowen just beneath the tower at Banbas Crown with the wild Atlantic just beyond only a couple of minutes walk away! Art and sculpture on display in the house is available to buy but no pressure - you can just come and immerse yourself in an atmosphere of creativity and enjoy the spectacular rural environment. The house temperature is 21 degrees at all times and hot water is around 50 degrees. We have reliable WiFi if you need to work remotely. If you like to read we have an eclectic collection of books in our 'micro library'. We dont have a TV but you can choose a DVD to watch including from a selection of films that were made on location in Inishowen and the usual 'blockbusters'. Parking is free in our private drive. Our garden is blooming and beautiful in Summer and there are benches outside to sit in the sun.
We are both artists - a milliner and a sculptor. We love meeting Irish and international travelers and being a part of your holiday experience. We love eating outdoors so we have an outside dining pod that mostly provides shelter in our unpredictable climate. Guests are also welcome to enjoy relaxing there. Our plan is to make our home environmentally friendly which is a 'work in progress' that began with harvesting our water and having an 'air to water' heating system. We cultivate our own herbs and veg and aim to buy as much locally produced food as possible as well as swapping with other growers. We hope you'll enjoy being here as much as we do!
The wild Atlantic sea is only minutes walk away from the house. Some of Irelands oldest Christian crosses and monastic settlements are located on our peninsula, we have ancient pre-Christian rock art here. There is fascinating wildlife to be seen all year round such as barnacle and brent geese who migrate here, the near extinct corncrake, cormorants, swans - 48 different bird species counted recently - dolphins, orca whales and basking sharks to name but a few. There are boat trips to the lighthouse island of Inishtrahull, there's a holy well, views, sunsets to die for and opportunity to see the Northern Lighs. Some of Europes most beautiful beaches are within a 20 minute drive. The Wild Alpaca Way is close by, and The Famine Village, You can be at one of Inishowens most spectacular golf links in Ballyliffin in 20 minutes. You will be spoiled for choice!
