Residenza Hortus is an exclusive retreat from the 16th century located near the beautiful cathedral of S. Giorgio, in the historic center of Modica. The ancient stone abode can accomodate up to 6 persons in its 3 refined bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, featuring local stones, vaulted ceilings and artisanal bedcovers. At our guests' disposal there is also a charming living room and a stylish fully-equipped kitchen with underground wine cellar. The panoramic terrace and the wonderful fenced garden with citrus trees, dining area, relax chairs and heated jacuzzi are ideal to unwind in total privacy. By request we can organize chef dinners and cooking class, massages, private tours, wine & chocolate tasting and transfers.
I am an artist and the founder of Anime a Sud hospitality project in Sicily. When traveling I always look for charming places to stay, boasting not-homologated design and authentic atmosphere. This is just the concept of our abodes: outstanding getaways where the original details combine with contemporary style, artworks, design pieces and local handicraft to let you live a unique experience.
Residenza Hortus is located in the upper part of the historic center of Modica near the Cathedral of San Giorgio, a masterpiece of the 18th-century baroque art. In the surrounding area you can find cafes, restaurants and grocery stores. Discover the charme of the city walking up and down its alleys and staircases, admiring its hidden corners and scenic views, amidst noble palaces, ancient churches and stone courtyards pervaded by the scent of jasmine. Enjoy the pleasure of slowness entering the old artisan shops, visiting the renowed chocolate ateliers and sitting at the table of a cafè for a granita with brioche.
