Welcome to Casale Amerina, an idyllic place to rest, rebalance and revitalise. This is a much-loved Umbrian farmhouse, with stylish contemporary interior, set in wonderful Umbrian countryside. There are two bedrooms with king size beds, a comfy sitting room with a balcony, and a gorgeous kitchen-dining room with Tuscan oak beams and a fireplace. Soak up the sun on our grass lawn, relax in the shade of our olive, walnut and fig trees, or explore the local area with its wonderful hilltop towns.
I'm from the UK and my wife is from the US. We both work internationally. I work in conflict resolution and my wife works in the field of human rights. We travel a lot for our work, but Italy has special place in our hearts.
Set on a hillside, the house has glorious views of the surrounding fields, forests and vineyards, with the Apennine hills in the far distance. There are wonderful walks nearby, including along the ancient Via Amerina. We love the local walks so much we've described them in our guide to the house and created maps of the routes for download. The area is brimming with hilltop villages and exquisite local restaurants. Our guide lists all of the best restaurants and trattorias in the area. Casale Amerina will take you away from tourists and plunge you into the deep calm of the Umbrian countryside. However, if you want to see the sights, they aren't far away. The beautiful, ancient town of Todi is a 15 minute drive. Orvieto and Perugia are both 45 minutes by car with their renowned churches and palazzos, as well as fabulous shops and restaurants. If you fancy a swim, there's an outdoor public pool just 10 minutes; drive, close to Todi or, for the more adventurous, the clean, refreshing water of Lake Bolsena is an hour away.
