Lido has a very long history. In the mid-19th century, Lido started to become one of Europe's most elegant and exclusive seaside resort. Many luxury hotels and villas were built at the beginning of the 20th century, in a unique liberty style. Cavalier Ettore Corinaldi entrusted architect Mario Gidoni to design Villa Gallo in 1914, and the constructions were completed the following year. Few years later the Villa was purchased by Bruno Gallo, an attorney. The Gallo family owned the Villa for the next century, until it was purchased by Gianluca D'Agnolo in 2018. Greetings everybody! Welcome to Villa Gallo! I am Gianluca, your host. I was born and raised in Lido, I lived in China for 25 years, where I met my wife Zhimin and where our kids Leo and Filippo were born, and now we live in Rome. In 2018 we decided to purchase a property in Lido, to strengthen our roots in the lagoon. We visited over a dozen villas, and when we had almost lost hope to find the perfect one for us, we read by chance a post about Villa Gallo, we run to see it, and it was love at first sight! Although it needed a lot of restructuring and restoration works, it was clear that we were in front of a rare jewel of Lido liberty style, one of the few villas of such size, with a nice garden, in a good location, with elegant and antique details. Over twenty among enterprises, artisans and professionals managed, with a great teamwork, to bring back Villa Gallo to her ancient splendor, as you can see her today. Villa Gallo is at 10 minutes walk from the Lido boat station and about the same distance to the beach. Many restaurants and cafes are nearby, three supermarkets and several ice cream shops, including our favorite one, Magiche Voglie!
