He majored in Tourism Studies at university and first visited Kumano as part of his coursework in 2011. He was captivated by the region's charm and the warmth of the people, leading him to make regular visits and assist in the promotion of tourism. While he currently leads a life based in Osaka, aspires to one day relocate to Kumano!
The Heart of KUMANO
All of the pilgrimage routes gravitate to Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine, one of the three grand shrines of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage. Villa KUMANO is lacated very close to Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine, very convenient for pilgrims.
Rural, but Still Relatively Convenient
Kumano Hongu Heritage Center, a café, and a couple of souvenir shops with local goods are within walking distance. A post office with an ATM, a bank that can exchange some international currency, and a hardware store are located nearby. There are also a handful of restaurants in a neighborhood.
Unique ONSEN
You can access unique hot springs within approximately 15 minutes by bus from Villa KUMANO. Yunomine Onsen was discovered about 1,800 years ago, and pilgrims performed hot water purification rituals in these piping-hot mineral waters after their long journey in preparation to worship at Kumano Hongu Taisha. Kawayu Onsen is a geological thermal wonder located on the river. Hot spring water bubbles to the surface of the crystal clear river.
