I am founder and initiator of the Bloom Garden Bed and Breakfast in Siem Reap, I have been active in Cambodia since 2006. I have organized trips and initiated projects to improve the well-being of the local population in various ways. I want to do more to make a difference for Cambodians.
“Life based on trust is perhaps the most important thing the Cambodians have taught me. The country has conquered a central place in my heart. It moves me. Cambodians can teach you how to deal with security, freedom and responsibility. It is a country with a savage history, but incredibly liveable. For me, perhaps the most memorable incident is the dedication of my Cambodian friends as I unfolded my plans. The trust you receive, the connection I felt: for me this is the essence of life. Cambodia helps me to find the connection with myself, with what I find important and with whom I love, at the center of my life. To live and do business based on connection and trust."
In 2020 I had to close my Bloom Garden Guesthouse. We survived 2 years and because of my love and devotion to Cambodia we started again with the 2 room Bloom Garden Bed and Breakfast. New normal with a new challenge.
"In the plans I am developing for a hotel near Siem Reap, soul and commerce are linked. As a hotel owner I can help build a world I believe in. In this, what I do professionally and when I am personally is strongly intertwined. I am convinced that this will also lead to commercial success. By developing plans that also take care of yourself, you develop plans that are an extension of your own condemnation, which you think will make the world a little better. You also develop your commercial strength. That's how I want to be a hotel owner: offering a welcoming space to others based on my own motivation and rides, to realize their own dreams too."
Siem Reap is a cheerful city that embraces travelers like old friends. This region was the site of successive capitals of the Khmer Empire from the ninth to the 15th centuries. The ruins, collectively known as the Angkor Archaeological Park, are located about four miles north of the city center. The 150-square-mile complex, which includes the famous Angkor Wat Temple, is Siem Reap’s biggest tourist draw. But in recent years, this ancient yet dynamic destination has been attracting travelers to stay longer and explore its other facets. A few days in this Cambodian city shows that Siem Reap straddles the best of both worlds—a glorious past and a vivid present. The best way to get to know it is to explore it slowly, one story at a time. (source: National Geographic)
As Cambodia's unofficial tourism capital, Siem Reap boasts hundreds of natural and manmade attractions such as breathtaking temples, well-preserved colonial buildings, unique museums, cultural theme parks, expansive lakes and verdant mountains.
