Your hosts Melanie and Götz are looking forward to making you a part of a Namibian farmer’s family and will welcome you in German, English or Afrikaans. For Melanie as a hotel professional each guest is king. Her attention to detail gives Dornhügel its special touch. Even if we have a full house she never loses track of the daily operations and no-one misses out. Her self-made Lemon-, Passionfruit- or Physalis-jams are famous (check on tripadvisor!). Götz is the man of action on the guestfarm – no stone too heavy, no project too big. Not only at the bar but also during the farm tour the guests can witness his love for the country, its animals and people. Götz was trained as a chef in Germany which is especially beneficial for the guests. Become part of the Namibian farm life – join us on a game drive, at the waterhole, have a conversation with the farmer´s family or become extensively involved on the farm and accompany our farmhands to their workplace for one day. During that time you can meet our cattle, horses, giraffes, Kudus, Elands, Dik-Diks, warthogs and other wildlife. If you are fortunate you may even encounter the timid leopard.

Dornhügel is one of the last unique Namibian farms with homely atmosphere, stylish ambiance and proper facilities. It is very conveniently located for guests from Etosha National park as well as several other attractions in Namibia. Dornhügel is ideally located between several well-known attractions of Namibia. They are close enough to visit on your way to or from the guestfarm. Etosha Nationalpark The east entrance of the Etosha park is just three hour’s drive from the farm, so that many guests come from there or are on their way there (mostly well equipped with a lot of tips, as well as lunch packs from Dornhügel). Bushman Country Particularly worth seeing is a small village in the bushman country just a short drive from Dornhügel. This is a worthwhile day outing, on which we will accompany you on request. The visitors can witness the traditions of the bushmen – the San – you can also participate actively by for example creating jewelry or learning to hunt with bow and arrow. Hoba meteorite Not far away lies the largest known single meteorite found on earth. It is located on the farm “Hoba West”.
