周辺エリアの情報
Tutungeni is a peaceful suburb, centrally located within easy reach of any part of Rundu.
Rundu Open Market, founded in 1996, is where you can find a wide variety of things, from local food and drinks to clothes, shoes, beans and flour. It’s an interesting place to pass through. You can see some Namibian crafts here and interact with the sellers - they are very friendly and welcoming to tourists. Although it’s not huge, it’s the largest open market in Rundu and depending on the time of day, it can be either crowded or rather empty.
The Living Museum of the Mbunza - About 14 kilometres west of Rundu you can find The Living Museum of the Mbunza, a traditional school for culture and at the same time a communal business for the local people of the Kavango. With this sustainable project they will be able to preserve their traditional culture and to generate an additional income.
A visit to Rundu gives you the opportunity to count hippos and crocodiles and wave to Angola. Lookout point within walking distance from Urban Farm Haus. If you take a boat cruise, it’s an interesting view to the other side of the river, where you can see small Angolan villages, most of them without access to electricity. You might also notice people bathing in the river or doing their laundry. Although it’s just a river that separates Namibia and Angola, the lifestyle seems very different. So even if Rundu might not be the most exciting place in the world, it’s worth it to stop and ponder.
Sunset and day cruises available on request.
