The cottage is cozy and well equipped. we loved the location for reaching the beach and surrounding towns. There is a grocery store about a 20-minute walk or 3-minute bike ride away, which is nice.

At the foot of an ancient beech tree lies Cottage Het Beukenootje (The Beech Nut Cottage) of 110 m2. When I renovated the house from 2022 till May 2023, I made it the way I would have done when I would live there myself. It has a spacious living room with a (gas)fireplace, a flatscreen tv and double doors to the spacious terrace with a stone barbecue. and picknick table. It has a large kitchen (fully equipped) with a big dining table, where you can sit for hours eating and talking. On the ground floor there is a bedroom with a double bed (with two separate mattresses and duvets and two sets of pillows for people who like more - or different- pillows) with a double washbasin and a closet. There is a walk-in shower at the end of the hallway and a separate toilet. On the first floor - under the sloping roof - is a second bedroom with the same bed facilities, a washbasin and a lovely view over the garden, and also space for your clothes. When you walk out of the patio doors you come to the terrace ( as mentioned above) Because the terrace is partly shaded by the beech tree during the day, you can walk via a path to the enclosed lawn at the back of the garden where there are wicker chairs and a low table where you can enjoy the sun until late in the evening with a nice view over the meadow. Because I like French brocante a lot ( and I have a friend with a house in France where we always visit the brocante markets) you'll find a lot of these items: an ancient chandelier above the diningroom table, ancient mirrors everywhere etc. The beds are made when you arrive and there are two towels per person, but if you need more, I'm happy to give them. Dishcloths etc. are also there. Unfortunately there was no space for a washing machine or dryer, but if you need to wash things, you can always use mine! I really like the place myself and I hope you will like it too !!
A direct contact is not necessarily needed , as the key is available in a coded key box, but that is only for your convenience, because then you can arrive any time you like after three 'o clock. For me it's a pleasure to meet you and to assist you with any problem or question you may have. I live next door and you can always call me.
The Beech Nut Cottage is located in Aerdenhout, very close to the railway station Heemstede-Aerdenhout, from where you can travel to Haarlem and Amsterdam ( and the rest of Holland of course) I would advise you to go by train, because the parking fees are very high, especially in Amsterdam. . The beach of Zandvoort and the F1 racing track are about 4,5 km away. Also the cozy medieval city of Haarlem is close by with it's nice shops , beautiful centre, the Frans Hals museum and the Teylersmuseum ( the oldest museum in Holland, really worthwhile a visit) ,terraces everywhere and nice restaurants. 1 km away is the entrance to the dunes (Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen) with a cozy pancake house at the entrance and beautiful scenery to walk for hours and on the other side of the road Leyduin with nice walks and also a restaurant. When you want to eat out in the neighbourhood there is a very nice restaurant at 2,5 km distance " de Vogelensangh" ( it's also nice to lunch there, especially when the weather is nice) with a nice terrace where you can sit in the sun and Zen ( 4,3 km away) a Japanese fusion restaurant in Bennebroek, ( I like it a lot!!) In spring the tulip fields are nice to see and of course the world famous Keukenhof at 12 km distance. I really think Het Beukenootje is not only a place where it's nice to stay, but there is also a lot that you can do in the vicinity !!
