Moddergat is located in the north of Friesland, 5 km west of the Lauwersmeer nature reserve and 35 km north-east of the capital Leeuwarden. Nature lovers and peace seekers are at the right address here: cycle to Holwerd and from there take the boat to Ameland, or take a trip across the Lauwersmeer (lake) with a coffee break at het boze wijf in Lauwersoog. Lauwersoog is an Eldorado for birdwatchers. Do you prefer walking? There are 125 walking routes around the lake.
