Company information

I am a former journalist and currently work as a tourism developer and author. I have written several books about Finnmark, and in November 2015, I published my book *Sterke krefter* ("Powerful Forces"), which explores the history and present-day healers of Finnmark. I have been involved in the tourism industry since 2001. I also have three children and a husband who occasionally helps with Ekkerøy Holiday House.

Property information

Staying at Ekkerøy means immersing yourself in nature. You'll enjoy stunning views of the fjord, vibrant birdlife, and the vast horizons of Varanger. Our apartments offer a cozy, atmospheric setting, complete with plenty of reading materials about the local area for those who are curious. Your host, Ingjerd Tjelle, is (almost) always available to provide assistance or information.

Neighbourhood information

Ekkerøy is located 2.5 hours (185 km) by car from Kirkenes and 15 km east of Vadsø. Varanger is a breathtaking region of Norway, so much so that I often say I live in a painting! Varanger is famous for its flat, barren landscape, vast skies, constantly shifting light, harsh weather, and untouched subarctic nature, with rich wildlife and plant life. As you drive along the Varanger National Tourist Route, you'll likely encounter rapid weather changes, reindeer leaping across the road, waves nearly washing over the road in some areas, and flocks of arctic bird species.
