Rayma and Phillip are fourth generation New Zealanders whose pioneering ancestors arrived in New Zealand in the mid nineteenth century. We have travelled extensively in New Zealand and overseas and have enjoyed many of the great walking tracks that New Zealand is well known for and actively support the sustainability of our environment by helping in the restoration of the Ahuriri Estuary and raise funds for a Kiwi Sanctuary.
We moved to Napier for a lifestyle change at the end of 2001 and have since enjoyed running a busy B&B Homestay in our 1880’s villa. As we have renovated the house we have been able to trace some of the alterations made to the original house, and are also guided by photos held by the local museum of the house in the late nineteenth century.
Many plants and trees in the well established garden have been there for many years. We both enjoy gardening and find Napier with its warm, sunny climate makes it easy to have a flourishing garden. We hope you too will join us and enjoy the garden and the sense of history that emanates from the property.
Whether your interest is Culture and Heritage, Food and Wine, Nature and Wildlife or something more active there is plenty for you to enjoy.
Napier City is famous for its Art Deco Architecture and there are daily guided walks, bus tours and rides in vintage cars to help you appreciate and understand this.
Napier is in Hawke's Bay which is New Zealand's wine and food region with many wineries, food producers and leading restaurants for you to visit.
For those who are interested in nature Hawke’s Bay boasts a large on shore Gannet Colony. These elegant birds are a sight to behold and can be visited by booking a tour.
If you are more active the cycling trails offer endless opportunities to explore the region and if golf is your joy. There are so many options. Hawke’s Bay is pure paradise.
