Grey Ridge is secluded vineyard, with wide open views and room to explore - perfect for wine lovers interested in tasting, discussing and exploring the whole process from vine to wine, but also for those wanting a relaxed and beautiful space to enjoy.
Peace and privacy, both indoors and outside. The gardens and the vineyard are yours to enjoy at your own pace, or just to appreciate from a comfortable spot in the house or on the terrace.
All guests can enjoy a private wine tasting with the owners, and a walk-and-talk tour of the vineyard, where Paul explains anything and everything about the vineyard and vines.
Share our spacious lounge, enjoy the warmth and romance of the log fire when the weather is chilly, or browse the bookshelves.
Dinner with the owners, where the wine is paired with each course, is also possible if arranged in advance.
The Vineyard Suite at Grey Ridge is a two bedroom haven of tranquility. It has its own little sitting room, a large bathroom with both bath and separate shower, and two spacious bedrooms.
The Orchard Studio is a lovely little ensuite Studio which can accommodate 2 people in a Super-king bed, or two singles. A private patio catches the afternoon sun.
Paul and Sue are the delighted new owners of Grey Ridge Vineyard, which they purchased in 2015. Established in 2002 and 2003, the former Greylands Ridge has a history of making great wines, which is already continuing with Air NZ Wine Awards gold and silver medals in both 2016 and 2017.
The views are one of the enduring joys of living on the vineyard as the mountain ridges surrounding the vineyard are a constantly changing version of grey.
For 30 years before purchasing Grey Ridge, Paul and Sue lived either in New Plymouth or overseas, as Paul worked in the "Corporate Oil World". Living in four different countries for four years each time, broadened their horizons and has given them a love of adventure, and becoming vineyard owners and workers is just the latest of their life's adventures. They both love meeting guests and sharing their enjoyment of the vineyard.
Grey Ridge vineyard is a 5-10 minute drive from the small towns of Alexandra and Clyde, both of which have an interesting history of the gold-mining activities in past centuries. A very scenic drive of just over an hour takes you to Queenstown or Wanaka, the tourist and “adventure capitals of NZ”, and there are many other beautiful vineyards, Arts trails, bike trails and attractions even closer to the vineyard.
