My house is right by beautiful Butterfield Beach less than 2kms from the village. The house comes with a 6 seater car with a small 30 dollar per night fee cover petrol and maintenance payable in cash on arrival. Use of the car is entirely at the risk of the user and all drivers must have a full license and be over 25. People come here for many reasons but one of the hardest things to do is get off the super comfy large couch, looking at the beach and across to the other side of Halfmoon Bay. Please note that bathroom and laundry supplies e.g shampoo may not be the same brand as on the bottles.
Hi, my name is Amanda and my family have been living on and around Rakiura/Stewart Island for many generations. I’m a nurse by profession. I adore Rakiura/Stewart Island, it’s peace and tranquility, the birdsongs, the forests, walks, beaches and community. The seafood on the island is second to none.
People don’t come to Rakiura/Stewart Island by mistake. They come to experience it’s uniqueness. The new museum showcases our history. There is a pub and a shop, a restaurant and The Kai Kart for takeaway fish and chips that are the best you’ll find anywhere.
