Seatonwood Villas - Farm Stay & Bed & Breakfast, located in a private, peaceful and very safe area just 30 kilometers from the Christchurch International airport, is the perfect spot to launch your New Zealand holiday. We have wonderful outdoor areas, suitable for adults to relax or for children to use up some excess energy, including a grass tennis court but viewing & petting our farm animals is probably the most fun of all.
With a maximum capacity for 6 guests, we are always available for a chat with our guests where we offer information about our fabulous country when required and at other times, simply listening and learning from our guests. This relaxed interaction is often the highlight of our guests stay; equally it is the highlight for us too.
We recommend a minimum stay of 3 nights with us. This allows time for a day trip to Christchurch and another day or so to spend in North Canterbury. Many of our guests have also found it very convenient to use us as a base for day trips to: Hanmer Springs - for the hot pools, walking/ tramping, golf, restaurants, shopping
Akaroa - a beautiful “French flavoured” seaside town
Golf courses within North Canterbury
Wineries within North Canterbury
And of course, visits to Christchurch
Holidays in NZ in summer are superb but NZ is also a great place in the winter and at Seatonwood Villas, we are well positioned to be used as a base for skiing holidays. The access road to Mt Hutt is a comfortable 70 minute drive and Porter Heights even less. There is nothing like coming back to a roaring open fire and home cooked meal at the end of a day on the mountain. Some days the weather just doesn’t allow skiing, so it makes sense to stay closer to other areas where there are plenty of activities, not weather affect
Restaurants, shops and cafes are in abundance and just a short trip by car with the closest cafe/ gift shop (Route 72 – Cafe Bar Emporium) a mere 10 minutes away. Larger shops and restaurants within 15 minutes: north in the local town of Rangiora & or east to Kaiapoi. Travel a little bit further north and we have the small township of Amberley; the starting point for our North Canterbury wineries.
Another popular local event is the lovely market held at the Ohoka Domain, each Friday, from 9am until 12.30pm.
Going for a walk along our local beaches is a favourite past time for everyone with Kairaki/ Pines, Woodend or Waikuku beaches are all very easy to get to. The local township of Pegasus is also a nice spot for a coffee, game of golf or a walk by making use of the easy access to the beach or walking beside the forest adjacent to the beach.
While we are on a direct route to all the major destinations in the South Island there are plenty of local activities for you to do and see, from within the Waimakariri region of North Canterbury, so spend some time at Seatonwood
