Casa do Bairro is the ideal holiday home for you and your family. This 100-year-old, but recently fully restored house, offers every comfort without sacrificing authenticity. Due to its location in a small typical neighbourhood (Bairro), just outside the centre of the village of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo, all basic facilities are easily accessible.
Hi, we are Inge & Derek. Together with our daughters Lisa & Jill, we moved from the densely populated Flanders to the Algarve to enjoy the authenticity and openness that still exists here. With more than 30 years of hospitality experience, and several holidays in this region, we know how to welcome you professionally, yet personally and have tried to improve the shortcomings we once encountered.
You start the day with a tea or espresso on the rooftop terrace, where you enjoy views over the mountains, all the way to the ocean. Then you have breakfast in the garden, where you overlook the plantations full of citrus trees, oliveiras and alfarrobeiras (carob)... Or you walk a few minutes to the centre of Santa Catarina, where you can have a rich breakfast at the local bakery. After that, the possibilities are endless : You enjoy nature in the immediate surroundings while hiking, cycling or mountain biking. You spend a day relaxing on one of the beaches of Tavira, Santa Luzia, Fuzeta, Olhão,... all reachable within 15 car minutes. You visit the historical sites and centres of Silves, Estoí, Loulé (where you'll also find the Mar shopping centre), Faro or other nearby towns. Or you head towards Spain or Western Algarve via the easily accessible A22... Or you drive inland into the Alentejo. The possibilities are endless. In the evening, you go to one of the typical Portuguese restaurants in Santa Catarina or São Bras de Alportel. Or prepare your own meal in the well-equipped kitchen or on the BBQ. Take your pick. Then relax in the Jacuzzi, and have a drink in the lounge with atmospheric evening lighting ? Or watch some more television with included streaming service.... And you can look forward again to a good night's sleep, and the next wonderful day you will experience here.
