A quiet retreat for travelling couples, friends or a family, Casa Laurinda is a 2 bedroom house with a sunny living room and an equipped kitchen in Aljezur's Historical Area. In the heart of the Vicentina Coast ecological reserve, the house sits on the ancient borough around the ancient Castle's hill, close to some of the best beaches and trails in the region. Laurinda makes an excellent base for nature and cultural hikes or tours, or to just come home and relax after a day on the beach. Laurinda offers bright sunny mornings with an excellent view over the Varzea fields and "new" Aljezur. The house has two full size couple beds on opposite sides of the house, and a sofa bed in the common living room. A hidromassage shower cabinet was added to provide the best shower-after-the-beach/walk experience. In the morning, the house is filled with light and inviting for a long breakfast. Around noon, the area feels alive as the local neighbours start coming home for lunch. In the afternoon, the neighbourhood goes quiet, it is a great time to read, talk or relax.

We like to leave the guests to themselves and respect their privacy, but we are happy to provide information, share some secret routes, and get you in touch with local producers, shops, tours and services. We welcome everyone and want all guests to get the best experience on their visit to our hometown. Local residents in general are warm and welcoming, they will do their best to help you and to speak your language. They are also authentic, and mostly not-in-it-for-the-money, so don't expect fake kindness or full-time smile-on service attitude, even from service providers. We will make sure to help you get your bearings and point you to the best experiences.

Five minutes (a walk downhill) separate Laurinda from the town's center, where you can find the oldest commerce and services of the small town of Aljezur. Laurinda's guests go shopping in the municipal market in search of the best local fish and fresh vegetables, or just to get the feel of the region. Along their way they pass the original Church of the village on the crossroad that takes you to the once Moorish Aljezur Castle; they go past the Municipal Museum, the local Cultural and Historical Patrimony Protection Association, the local community theatre and arts association "Lavrar o Mar", the social and cultural venue on the old grain mill "Moagem". Laurinda's neighbours are mostly local people, but you will find some settled in foreigners and some travellers for sure. Towards the opposite end of the street you will reach the road along the small river taking you to Amoreira Beach, arguably one of the most beautiful of the region, with a river beach, sandy dunes and black rocky cliff and reef areas. The area is diversely rich all year round for nature and local culture lovers. Hiking, swimming, surfing, scubadiving, fishing, birdwatching, ATV trails or mountainbiking, regional events and markets, the ancient traditional gastronomy based on local-grown ingredients, the helpful local community are just some of the things that make it easy to let Aljezur earn a special place in your heart.
