The house number 113 in Criț was built 1727 and several generations of Transylvanian Saxons lived here until the end of the last century.
The house was carefully restored keeping its original aspect from the time when the Schmidt family lived here. Mr. and Ms. Schmidt moved to Germany 1981 together with their son and two daughters. They could enter their house, restored by Michael Schmidt, the son, more than 30 years later.
Today, Schmidt House welcomes you gladly to have a little taste of the peaceful life in a Transylvanian Saxon house that still breathes the core values of this German minority: fairness, discipline, elegance and the things well done.
We use terracotta stoves for heating House Schmidt and we will take care of making the fire until you arrive. Afterwards we will let you enjoy the experience.
周辺エリアの情報
Crit village is situated right in the heart of Transylvania and it is part of the Haferland area, due to the fact that, long time ago, its inhabitants mainly cultivated oat. The village is situated midway between Sighisoara and Brasov city, close to the national road which connects the two cities.
When you arrive at Crit it’s a must to visit other nearby villages, such as: Viscri, Mesendorf, Cloasterf, Roades, Saschiz or Fiser.
Everywhere you will go, you will find solid houses, which look like small fortresses, with simple rooms, but where the solid wood furniture, hand-painted with traditional motifs and bright colors, will remind you of the old times.
The tour of the Crit village should also include the fortified church, especially if you stay at Casa Kraus: that is because our pension has a common fence with the church. Moreover, our guests have the chance to enjoy organ concerts as the fortified church is one of the few renovated churches, with an organ reconditioned 3 years ago, having one of the best acoustics in Transylvania.
On your To Do list on Crit you should also include Mrs. Sofia’s stories, a 97 years Saxon woman who returns every year to her native village.
