Hello dear folks, We are Erzsike & Michel van Langeveld, a Dutch/Transilvanian couple. In Sic/Szék we run a B. & B. in combination with a dance house and a dance house museum and we take care of the permanent exhibition of pictures of Korniss Péter. Welcome in Sic/Szék... the cradle of the Hungarian dance house movement.

Our B. & B. is situated in Csipkeszeg in Sic/Szék, above the dance house and in our cottage across the street. We have 6 rooms and max. 14/16 persons can find here a place to sleep. From December until April 1 we are closed. In winter we are only open for groups until max. 14 persons. But also for bigger groups we cooperate with partners nearby. In combination with our dance house and dance house museum and the permanent exhibition of the famous dance house pictures of Korniss Péter we can organize fantastic cultural events at our place in combination with live music and dance demonstrations. During the whole year we organize (Hungarian) dance houses. We are delighted when we can organize a dance house ("táncház) for your (folk dance) group. Most of the time this dance houses are public. Please ask for the possibilities. As we are also the owners of a private salty swimming pool in the village, please do not forget to bring with you your swimming suits. The salty swimming pool was an entrance of an old salt mine. 6 meter beneath the surface there are 2 salt wells. They are about 80 meters deep. Thanks to this wells the swimming pool has a high level of salt. The name of our salty swimming pool is "Széki Medve tó" and has the same salty water conditions as the "Bear Lake" of Sováta. In June the temperature of the salty water is about 40 degrees or even more!!! Our swimming pool is about 700 meters away of our Bed & Breakfast and is only excessable for our own guests of our B. & B..

Sic is a Hungarian enclave nearby Cluj-Napoca (45 km). 96% is Hungarian. Due to their isolated location, the people of Sic (in Hungarian language: Szék) still lives like they did 50 years ago and still wear their traditional costumes. Interesting places nearby are: the monastery of Nicola (10 km), the Armenian centre of Gherla, (15 km), the castle of the Bánfy's in Bontida, (30 km) and the ethnographic museum of Kallos Zoltán in Răscruci. (32 km). More nearby is our Reformed church from 1241 a visit worth and the reed reserve both in Sic/Szék. Of course we also recommend our own salty swimming pool with the same salty water conditions as "The Bear Lake" of Sováta. #SzékiMedvetó
