Gladeholm is a traditional Swedish organic certified apple orchard dating back to 1869 located in an inspiring landscape on 11 hectares (28 acres) of land at the edge of Stenshuvud National Park. We primarily grow Cider apples for in house production of beverages and operate an art residency program through the Milvus Artistic Research organization. The name Gladeholm come from the Red Kite often seen on windy days slowly gliding over sloping fields west of the houses. Our botanic garden is a wildlife sanctuary for many rare animals. Calm evenings the sound of the Tawny Owl ( Strix Aluco ) and the rare singing tree frog (Hyla arborea ) can be heard from the farm houses. In the center of the property lays the MARC studio with its stunning view over the farm landscape. Since the start of Milvus Artistic Research Center back in 2013, the studio has been the month long home for many international arts projects as well as training studio for modern ballet and other visual arts projects. We are happy to occasionally take guests from the public also to visit this residency center, very welcome.
Very welcome to Gladeholm our traditional Swedish Orchard beautifully located at the edge of Stenshuvud National Park in Kivik Sweden. I am Johan Nygren living fulltime at Gladeholm, keeping daily operations running for the Orchards, production and Arts Center. Apart from the work with Gladeholm i drive Ocean Rescue missions and do work for Swedish Civildefense in Kivik helping with firefighting and traffic accidents. In my sparetime i try to spend as much time as i can riding my bike and reading litterature. I hope you will find your stay at our center inspirational and memorable.
