Vila Krista is a century old villa in a unique location. Situated at the foot of the Kalvarija hill with its beautiful wine yards, it sits only minutes away from the city park and a stroll from the city centre. The house was built by my great-grandfather in 1925 and used to house the family and the headquarters of the family business. Today, it is the home of our family. Part of the ground floor of the house is renovated into a separate apartment, where we welcome our guests. They have a beautiful view of our garden, the Kalvarija hill and the surrounding hills. The apartment has a cosy and nostalgic vibe – we have preserved many elements from the 70s Jugoslavian style, when my grandmother renovated the apartment on the ground floor. There are also photobooks and photographs on display and we invite you to flick through them and enjoy the view.

My name is Matej and I am a photographer and photobook publisher. Vila Krista also houses our publishing house and you can find our photobooks on display in the apartment. Our family has a love for traveling, languages and stories. This is why we would like to welcome you and share with you our part of the town and our towns’ history.

The location is a perfect pick for families. It is a great base for strolls in the city park and above the roofs of Maribor in the wine yards of Kalvarija and Piramida. It offers easy opportunities for walking, running and cycling. Our street is very quiet and peaceful. A playground in the city park is only 400 m away, as are public basketball and football playgrounds. The city centre with many cafes, restaurants and shops is less than a kilometre away and you can reach it through the park. The nearest spot for renting public bikes is 400 m away. The nearest grocery shop is 500 m away. The main train and bus stations are some 1,5 km away. To the Pohorje hill with its ski slopes and bike trails it is only 10 minutes by car and 30 minutes by bus.
