Our family loves skiing, snowboarding and camping. We are frequently up on the property staying in the detached studio apartment.

The Abandoned Rail Cabin is nestled in a quiet mountain community with a mix of permanent residence and short-term vacationers looking to relax, unwind and recreate in the central Rocky Mountains. Located only a couple miles from historic downtown Fairplay where can enjoy the vibe of this unique mountain town. Fairplay, Alma and Breck all have great places to eat and have a drink. In the summer, enjoy a bike ride to Fairplay on the paved bike path. The cabin is located about half a mile form Highway 9, with about a quarter mile of unpaved roads. Roads are maintained and plowed all the way to the property. We also have a contracted snow plow company that comes out when accumulation his 4-6 inches. We are located at 10,000 feet. Be Prepared. For winter travel, 4WD is required due to potential of snow. No refunds are given due to snow storms or altitude sickness. Stay hydrated. Be prepared:) This property has ample room for two full size vehicles on the gravel driveway. There is a bus route that will take you from downtown Fairplay to Breckenridge. In the summer, there is a bike path to downtown Fairplay, Alma as well.
