Thought I'd made a big mistake when we first pulled up - beyond rustic! But it is a working farm and truly a retreat. Our cute little suite made me smile - and it was immaculate and so comfortable. Enjoyed the animals - especially the chickens.

This place is straight out of a storybook! Our idyllic cottage was set towards the back of the property, surrounded by wildflowers, a cedar hot tub and sauna, hammocks and plenty of little spots for relaxation and inspiration. Our family of four...

We enjoyed the farm and had a nice but small room. It was very comfortable and met our needs. Eric was very nice to talk to as well. It was close enough to all activities we were doing with our family.

It's quiet, rustic, and has lots of history. I've stayed a few times now, and I always love it.

Company information

My husband and I returned to the land 6 years ago after many years working as professionals in stuffy offices. We love the experience of creating an eco friendly place for our family and others who wish to be close to nature and live of the land. We enjoy cooking and entertaining and we arrange frequent dinners, potlucks and wine tasting with our guests and friends. Creating an eco friendly environment is an ongoing process. We are very grateful for the wonderful work of our wwoofers (willing workers on organic farms) whose assistance throughout the years have been instrumental in the growth of our goji berry farm and lodge. Our daughter and two sons and their families have also been an intricate part of our developing vision. Our berries, fruits and vegetables are organically cultivated. The chickens are free ranging and the growth season has been extended by a newly constructed green house. All of our casitas and cabins are heated with wood fire stoves and energy efficient air heat pumps that are powered by solar energy. The eco lodge is part of a recycling program and uses only use eco friendly cleaners, dish and laundry detergents. A grey water system is our next project.

Property information

Taos Goji Eco Lodge and Farm is nestled in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. These charming, historic log cabin rentals are in near proximity to Taos, NM (11 miles) and the Taos Ski Valley and Red River (30 minutes). Fullly furnished, and situated on a 40 acre goji berry farm, the cabins are surrounded by national forest with a great view of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Perfect for retreats, reunions & weddings. We are located in the countryside and city slickers may be dismayed by the lack of street lights and the quietude at night. Our internet connection gets spotty during rain storms and snow. Depending on your cell phone provider you may have to drive to the post office or up the road to get reception. We’re not a motel or hotel: these are clean, rustic country cabins, a perfect place for creative individuals drive who desire to take a break from the hustle and bustle of civilization or to bring your children to appreciate country living. This is also an introduction to camping or glamping for families who want a degree of country comfort. This is a place to get away from the TV and computer games. Don't panic, Taos is only 15 minutes away.

Neighbourhood information

The farm and cabins are nestled in the Sangre de Cristobal mountains. We have forty acres and a five acre goji farm, some farm rescue animals. We are not a motel or a hotel, there is no permanent staff or a lodge office. We live there most of the year and our manager also lives in the valley. Ten cabins are spread throughout the property, which contains a seasonal stream, two ponds, many cottonwood, pine, and aspen trees, four acres of goji plants, seasonal vegetable gardens, a greenhouse, fruit trees, a children's playground, flower gardens, chickens, an open barn, and lots of quiet walking areas. The small village of San Cristobal is surrounded by the Kit Carson National Forest, which offers a host of walking trails and opportunities for snow shoeing and cross country skiing. 10 Miles to Taos, 20 miles to Taos Ski Valley, 20 miles to Red River Ski Area.
