We live in the house below the apartment. You are welcome to knock on our door and say hello or pop down if you have questions.
The Bo-Kaap is a beautiful historic neighbourhood - known for its rich cultural tapestry, traditions and the most delicious cuisine. While the apartment is located on the slopes of Signal Hill and close to the city centre, it is quiet and peaceful here. Seagulls visit to snack on bread crumbs and guinea fowls are sometimes seen in the streets on sojourn from nearby Table Mountain National Park.
There are many coffee shops, restaurants and convenience stores in striking distance of our house. For visitors interested in the history of the area, there are historic sites in Bo-Kaap including the oldest mosque in South Africa and the Noon Day Gun, heritage buildings and restaurants to visit.
It is a safe but urban neighbourhood. Expect to meet people from a variety of socio-economic circumstances as you would in any urban area. We have wonderful, friendly and kind neighbours. Chat to anyone if you are lost or if you want to learn more about life and living in Bo-Kaap.
The inner city, hikes on Signal Hill, tourist sites and many restaurants, coffee shops and bars are within short walking distance. The apartment is located near de Waterkant, the Waterfront and Bree Street.
