Newly restored classic Graaff Reinet home in the horseshoe of town, with yellowwood floors, high ceilings and thick walls to keep in the cool air. 3 double bedrooms each with own bathroom, a further twin room. This is an historic house with quirks such as having to take 2 steps from the main bed through the converted stable garage to its shower room. Large sitting room, study, dining room, spacious terrace with braai and a plunge pool. Large kitchen. Wifi. Garage for one car, Toyota Fortuner size. On a quiet street near the heart of town. There is a guest cottage, in a private section of the garden with private access down the side passage of Greystone House which is available to guests either privately or in conjunction with the main house.
Please note that the aircons are provided for cooling the houses in the hot summer months, not for heating. Blankets, duvets and hot water bottles are provided and each house has a fireplace. We try to keep our rates as reasonable as possible, so if you feel you do need to use the aircons for heating, please note that an additional surcharge of R150 per night will be raised.
The properties are self check in and while the owner lives on a nearby farm, our manager is always available should you wish to meet or have any queries. She will message you on the day before your arrival with all check in details
We are privileged to live in the graceful town of Graaff Reinet, in the Great Karoo with views to marvel at and history to appreciate. We enjoy restoring classic period properties and welcome guests to enjoy their stay in this beautiful part of the world. T
Graaff-Reinet is one of the oldest towns in South Africa and among the most beautiful. There is a strong Cape Dutch architectural influence and the wide streets are lined with jacaranda and flamboyant trees.
There are charming restaurants, museums and cafes, antique shops, spas, a bookshop, deli, and other local businesses, as well as larger country-wide chains for clothing, grocery and equipment purchases. The town is surrounded largely by national park, farms and private game reserves. Our museums, art galleries and the Camdeboo National Park, along with the world famous Valley of Desolation, ought firmly to be on your to-do list
