Oyster bay is a very quiet village near St Francis, Cape St Francis and Jeffreys Bay. The nature is unbelievable and the beaches are clean and empty.
The house is right on the beach, with large sliding doors and windows facing the sea..
You see dolphins swim pass daily. You will experience the most beautiful sunsets ever.
The village is safe, with just a few permanent residence. We sleep with all the doors and windows open (weather permitting) and fall asleep with fresh sea air and the sound of waves.
The children can still play safely and walk home at night.
Swimming in the sea is safe, especially during low tide (always be careful though) with life savers during school holidays.
Go for a walk through the "fynbos" towards St Francis and experience all the little puddles and sea life.
There is a stocked shop in the village now, and a restaurant that has lovely cheap pizzas, sea food etc.
For more action you can take a short drive to all the places mentioned above, even towards Storms river, Knysna, Plettenberg bay and so forth.
Oyster bay is for families that wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We now have free wifi.
I always love introducing people to Oyster bay,...there aren't many people that are aware of this undiscovered part of the coast in Southern Africa. Years ago I was looking for a property right on the beach... and I found it. This is the place that I recharge my batteries and enjoy spending quality time with my family.
I always discover something new after all the years of going there...
The local people are friendly, down to earth with no pretences.
My family and myself are adventurous and we love and respect nature. So hiking, swimming in the sea, snorkelling, cycling and riding down the beach on the horses are in the order of the day.
The village is small and quiet with a large 7 kilometer serene beach.
Investigate and explore places like Brakkenduine where there is a 4x4 route and a dam about 7km from the Oyster bay turn off, as well as Huis Klip which is also a few kilometers from there.
Discover the private beaches on the chokka trail towards St Francis... if you are up to it - walk the 20 kilometers along the trail to the Cape St Francis light house, and visit the penguin sanctuary. (Just let some one pick you up from there) visit all the wonderful restaurants in St Francis, Cape St Francis and the Harbour. And if you are surfer or would like to learn, this as well as Jeffreys bay is one of the best places in the country to surf. Visit the Billabong factory shops in Jeffreys...
But most of all.. sit on the deck ... look at the best sun sets ever and just be...!
