Whether you’re passing through or staying several nights, Serendipity offers a serene, comfortable base in the Hoedspruit/Kruger region.
We’re Sonja and Brian, and we created Serendipity from the ground up with the hope of offering a quiet, comfortable space for travellers to pause and recharge. What began as a simple renovation project turned into a labour of love, and now we enjoy sharing this little piece of the bushveld with guests from near and far.
Our goal is to make you feel welcome and at ease from the moment you arrive. Whether you’re here for a quick overnight stay, a business trip, or to explore the Kruger and Blyde Canyon region, we’re happy to provide a peaceful base and thoughtful touches to make your stay comfortable.
Welcome to Kampersrus, a charming village where you can sometimes hear lions roar on a quiet night and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Nestled in the secluded foothills of Mariepskop Mountain, this historic town offers breathtaking views and a sense of peace that makes it a perfect retreat.
Kampersrus lies within a UNESCO-declared biosphere that connects to the Kruger National Park, the Drakensberg escarpment, and the famous Blyde River Canyon—the third largest canyon in the world. This unique location places you close to some of South Africa’s most spectacular natural wonders, as well as several nature reserves and birding hotspots.
The nearby Blyde Dam is home to the rare Kadishi Tufa Waterfall, one of the few waterfalls of its kind in the world. Whether you’re here for game drives, birdwatching, or simply to enjoy the mountain views, Kampersrus offers a perfect balance of nature and small-town hospitality.
Just under 30 km from Hoedspruit, the village has convenient shops, restaurants, and pubs, and serves as an ideal base for day trips into the Kruger area or the Blyde Canyon region.
