Enjoy tiny home living at this peaceful and centrally-located cottage in the country. The Mouse 🐭 House dates back to 1890 and has been lovingly renovated. It is walking distance from the town centre so park and walk! It has a double volume thatch roof with a loft queen bedroom accessible by a 9 step ladder staircase(please hold onto the railings at all times!). On the ground floor there is a cosy lounge including a fireplace and fan, a small kitchenette with a Nespresso coffee machine(including pods), toaster, kettle, small fridge, cutlery, crockery, an air fryer. The bathroom which is downstairs is an open plan concept with rain shower, toilet and sink. The Mouse House set up is in line with tiny home living concepts. The garden is established and is full of beautiful plants including an old pomegranate tree as well as many species of birds.. The back of the cottage is at a stream with braai /BBQ facilities and has a generous seating area. The property is fully fenced to keep your pets safe. We love our dogs and that is why we welcome your furry friends so just bring your own bedding and they will have a great time in dog friendly Greyton. Dogs are not allowed in the nature reserve but there are many other options and I have included a doggie map to plan. It is expected that you pick up after your dog, thank you! Please feel free to ask for assistance about activities in Greyton. The Greyton tourism office is very helpful as well as everyone in this friendly village!
The Mouse House is on a quiet country sand road so you may get a visit from the local horses that roam the town. There is plenty of choice of restaurants in Greyton from the local pub to live music steakhouses to excellent mediterranean food. I will send you a list closer to your arrival. There is a Truth coffee at Maanskyn, great beer at the local brewery, art galleries or have a taste of amazing praline at the local chocolate maker. There is a nature reserve for easy to more challenging hikes where you can take a swim in a waterfall pool. There are easy to difficult mountain biking trails on the prepared trails (permit needed) or just go gravel riding around the area. Go to Pure Cafe to set the map and buy your permit. You can also scan a QR code on the trail to pay. There is also horse riding available. There is a local market every Saturday from 9 to 12 which is a lively meeting point with great food and drink options. There is a local grocery store, petrol station, pharmacy, clinic and doctor in the town. Everything you need is available locally. The neighbouring town of Genadendaal has a rich history and worth a visit. The donkey sanctuary and animal farm is on the outskirts and worth a visit. The event calendar of Greyton is busy and there are events such as wine weekends, classical concerts, Beer festivals, art walks and open gardens in the spring.
