British Museum

As Great Britain’s Empire expanded, so did its cache of material treasures – many of which are on display in this world-class museum. Among its eight million exhibits, you'll find the stunning Elgin Marbles from Greece, the Benin Bronzes and the legendary Rosetta Stone. The Reading Room stands at its heart and is spectacular in size and scope.

This is a fabulous museum, and takes more than a day to see.

This is a fabulous museum, and takes more than a day to see. We paid for an early tour, which was nice, but perhaps unnecessary. It was a fairly crowded Saturday in September, but it's so big viewers are able to spread out. Not sure what it would be like in the summer. I would love to go back and allow for 3 shorter days. We were exhausted after 8 hour.

Get a guided tour.

Get a guided tour. I normally like to explore places under my own steam. However I have missed so much in this incredible museum before my American Cousin persuaded me to join her on a tour! Also sometimes retired professors do free mini tours of their chosen subject. I enjoyed a fascinating tour of the Elgin/Parthanon marbles

Do not go to this museum thinking you will see everything. Even with close to four hours, we barely scratched the surface--but what you do see is incredible and that means there's always more for a future visit!

We were overwhelmed by the number of noisy visitors first thing in the morning. It was not a warm day but it was very stuffy and there was no air flow through a lot of the galleries. The information tags on some of the exhibits were poorly placed and very difficult to read unless you were right up close.

Pre-book a ticket or go on a late opening evening ( The queues can be very long). The Egyptian /Assyrian statues and monuments are spectacular ,asare the controversial Elgin marbles. For intrinsic British exhibits, Roman Britain is fascinating. The reading room is hosting an exhibition at the moment. A very interesting space set in The Great Court. Top tip _ don't try to see everything in one visit. Plan and Prioritize!! Top Tip:

Location is wonderful, next to the British Museum and size of double room is good compared to London average. The place looks clean (except for the toilet windows... they really should consider a reno here) and they change towels everyday. I did not have breakfast there but a colleague did and said it was nice. Staff was nice and helpful also.

I am a regular customer here. It is my favourite place to stay in London. Excellent location for Euston and St Pancras stations and for Bloomsbury including British Museum. Really helpful staff, and a reception desk that is manned 24/7. This is important to me after bad experiences failing to get door codes etc from other hotels. Rooms clean and comfortable and very well equipped. Surprisingly quiet for a city centre hotel with no double glazing.

The quiet and relaxed location of the Bloomsbury Hotel was perfect - the tube and buses a few minutes walk away couldn’t be better. The British Museum was a five minute walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed two dinners at the main restaurant, the Coral Room had a fantastic ambiance for drinks and breakfast was delicious being buffet and a la carte. Our room was lovely and the hotel is definitely one that we’d like to return to.

The best thing of the hostel was its location and the price. It is just 5 minutes walk away from British Museum and British Library, 10 minutes away from Euston. Russell Square Underground rail is just 1 minutes away. The area is filled with superstore like Tesco and other cheap as well as expensive restaurants. The price was very suitable compared to its central and easy location. The hostel has a good eating and casual area with a good kitchen.

We could walk here from Euston station. Our room was a good size with a lovely big bathroom with toiletries provided. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good. It's in a nice quiet location our room looked out over the gardens. Most of the stuff we had planned was within walking distance which was great . The British museum is a 4 minute walk away. I would stay here again

Very good location (near Russel Square tube with Picadilly line, only 10min walk to British Museum) Comfy beds with lockers underneath, cover, plug and own light. Showers in basement were one of the best showers I used in hostel!! There was also laundry room and quite spacious kitchen/common area.
