Great hotel in the city center that deserves its 4 stars. You can stop in front of the hotel to unload your suitcases. Large, clean, quiet room and bathroom. Plenty of storage space and space for 2 suitcases. Super extensive breakfast that really deserves to be called a "continental breakfast" - it really had everything. There is an affordable, inexpensive parking, even for larger vehicles, with over 200 places at the train station of Chester. Chester railway station is about 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. You can pay your park ticket at the counter in the station, where you can also get information about trains to Liverpool (direct connection) and Manchester. If you plan to visit Liverpool we recommend taking the train, so you don't spend time and money looking for a parking space. There are several departures per hour, travel time approx. 45 minutes. Of the places on the Welsh coast, we liked Llandudno the best. When we asked at reception, we were recommended an Indian restaurant nearby, almost opposite the hotel, and they even reserved a table for Saturday evening. It was really good. We were also able to borrow an English adapter, as our own didn't work with the laptop. Chester city centre was about 10-15 minutes away from the hotel, but not just the main road, but also the option of walking through a park and along the River Dee.

Towering in all its Benedictine splendour, this Saxon church is dedicated to St Werburgh and dates from the 12th century, having survived the English Reformation. Chester Cathedral was the most welcoming cathedral I visited...

Chester Cathedral was the most welcoming cathedral I visited. It’s absolutely beautiful, with stunning details and several lovely spaces to explore. The people there were incredibly kind and hospitable. There’s also a café, clean restrooms, and a charming garden and park at the back — perfect for a quiet rest or a snack. It was the first attraction I visited in Chester, and I liked it so much that I returned again at the end of the day.

    An amazing building.

An amazing building. Great tranquillity away from its busier days and times. Good place to pause and reflect - away from the many temples and stalls of Mammon!! Loved attending Choral Evensong (with visiting choir) and a couple of secular concerts - all atmospheric.

Great location, walking distance to the Chester walls and the Chester Cathedral, shops and restaurants. We enjoyed all our breakfasts at The Boathouse and we had a great dinner there as well. The dining room offers a beautiful view of the River Dee and our room also had a very nice view of the river as well. The staff were terrific and on-site parking was no issue. Our room was comfortable and well appointed.

We stayed in a spacious room overlooking the canal with a balcony giving views of Chester Cathedral. A lively bar was great for a drink after attending a nearby event and breakfast in the morning was excellent. The breakfast staff in particular deserve a mention for their friendliness and speed of service. We also made use of the Spa facilities, a very nice pool, jacuzzi pool, sauna and steam room.
