Buonconsiglio Castle
This imposing fortress was called home by the prince-bishops of Trento during the Middle Ages. It consists of a 12th-century castle and an ornate Renaissance section – both of which are equally impressive in their own ways. But the main draw here is the Ciclo dei Mesi, a series of frescoes by an unknown Bohemian painter that depict medieval life month by month.

I only had a short time in Trento and the castle is huge...
I only had a short time in Trento and the castle is huge...Bigger than I expected so it took more time than I expected. You can add a tour with audio guide of the tower to your ticket to see the frescos/paintings of the months/seasons. It's pretty special and definitely worth the time and money. As the castle is big and there are a lot of steps I recommend a comfy pair of shoes and a bottle of water to keep you going. It's a very interesting place!Guest review byJoanneItaly
